Besides fulfilling the rest of the prerequisites (such as FEMA, HT/WT, etc.) Officers must be an O-3 (P), O-4 or O-5 to take this course.
Graduates of the previous 12-month in-residence TXSG ILE will not be required to take the first half of the course. This course meets the PME requirement for promotion to O-5 and to O-6.
This course will prepare captains and senior first lieutenants for the leadership, training, and administrative requirements of a successful company commander and for the execution of the tactical planning responsibilities of a battalion staff officer.
This course is designed to provide the Texas State Guard commissioned officers in all branches of the Texas State Guard with fundamental leadership training and skill competencies. The strength of the course is the exchange of information between the instructor, officers and peers. Active participation is required in the course.
SCP is not a required course for promotion or prerequisite for other PME courses. Work completed in SCP Course may be used towards ILE assignments in the future. Officers who have taken TXSG CGSC or TXSG ILE will not require SCP.
Graduates of TXSG ILE or the the previous 12-month in-residence TXSG CGSC will not be required to take SCP.
