To qualify individuals as basic TXSG underwater operations divers using open-circuit SCUBA and knowledgeable in waterborne subsurface missions that include, but are not limited to, defense readiness, emergency response, aid to operations, search and rescue, recovery, and salvage tactics, techniques and procedures operationally focused on a climate that implies risk to public safety following a natural or man-made disaster.  

    Students are trained in specialized physical conditioning, waterborne operations including limited to low-visibility subsurface navigation swims, deep dives, search and recovery dives, diving physics, physiology and injuries, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, emergency oxygen, marine hazards, swiftwater rescue and small boat operations and a culmination situational training exercise.
