Prior Service Orientation Training – Course C (PSOT-C) is a comprehensive transition and orientation course designed for prior service members entering the Texas State Guard more than 10 years after completing their previous military service. PSOT-C applies to former commissioned officers in grades O-3 and below, qualifying pre-commissioned cadets, warrant officers in grades W-1 and W-2, and enlisted personnel in grades E-6 and below.
The course recognizes the student's previous military experience while providing additional refresher instruction appropriate to the length of time since prior service. Students receive instruction in TXSG-specific organizational, regulatory, and operational requirements, supplemented by selected military subjects necessary to support successful reintegration into military service. Successful completion of PSOT-C satisfies the applicable prior service orientation requirement preceding onward assignment.
Prior Service Orientation Training – Course B (PSOT-B) is a transition and orientation course designed for prior service members entering the Texas State Guard within 10 years of completing their previous military service. PSOT-B applies to former commissioned officers in grades O-3 and below, qualifying pre-commissioned cadets, warrant officers in grades W-1 and W-2, and enlisted personnel in grades E-6 and below.
The course builds upon the student's previous military training and experience while providing instruction necessary to transition into the Texas State Guard. Students receive focused orientation to TXSG-specific organizational, regulatory, and operational requirements while avoiding unnecessary repetition of fundamental military training previously completed. Successful completion of PSOT-B satisfies the applicable prior service orientation requirement preceding onward assignment.
Prior Service Orientation Training – Course A (PSOT-A) is an accelerated transition and orientation course designed for prior service members entering the Texas State Guard after completing their previous military service at a senior grade. PSOT-A applies to former commissioned officers in grades O-4 and above, warrant officers in grades W-3 and above, and enlisted personnel in grades E-7 and above.
The course recognizes the student's previous military training and leadership experience while providing focused instruction necessary to transition into the Texas State Guard. Students receive orientation to TXSG-specific organizational, regulatory, and operational requirements necessary for integration into the force. Successful completion of PSOT-A satisfies the applicable prior service orientation requirement preceding onward assignment.
